- In 1994, George won the
- heavyweight boxing
- championship at the age
- of 45, becoming the
- oldest man ever to wear
- the championship belt. It was the second time
- George had won the heavyweight title; the
- first time was 21 years earlier!

- GeorgeΓÇÖs professional boxing career spans
- four decades. He was the heavyweight gold
- medalist at the 1968 Olympics. In 1973, he
- won the heavyweight title from Joe Frazier by
- knocking out the defending champion in the
- second round!

- October 30, 1974 was a turning point in
- GeorgeΓÇÖs life. He met Muhammad Ali
- in a title fight in Zaire, Africa. In the
- ΓÇ£Rumble in the Jungle,ΓÇ¥
- as the fight was called,
- Muhammad knocked
- George out in the eighth
- round.

- George left boxing in 1977 to become a
- Christian minister back home in Texas. In
- 1987, however, he decided to make a boxing
- comeback. People laughed at him. He was 38
- and had put on weight. But his punches were
- just as heavy as always, and after 24 fights,
- he was unbeaten.

- On April 19, 1991, George, then 42, lost to
- champion Evander Holyfield. But he won the
- hearts of many Americans. He endorsed
- products and got his own TV comedy
- show.But what George really wanted
- was another shot at the
- heavyweight title. In
- November 1994, George
- got his chance. He made
- the most of it. He
- knocked out champion Michael Moorer in the
- 10th round to become champion again!
